Midlife & Empty Nest Therapy

An Invitation to Rewrite Your Next Chapter

For years, your days were dictated by the beautiful, exhausting chaos of schedules, milestones, and a bustling household. Now, the bedrooms are quiet. The calendar has cleared. And in the stillness, a profound question emerges: Who am I when I am no longer actively managing a full house?

I work with parents navigating the emotional changes that come with the empty nest years and other midlife transitions. Whether your children have recently left home, family relationships have shifted, or you're trying to reconnect with yourself after decades of caregiving, therapy offers a space to process, heal, and move forward.

The Therapeutic Process

  • Why Therapy

Many of my clients come to therapy because they are experiencing:

    • Anxiety and constant worry about their adult children

    • Grief related to the empty nest transition

    • A loss of purpose or identity after parenting full-time

    • Changing family roles and expectations

    • Difficult relationships with adult children

    • Feelings of loneliness, rejection, or disconnection

    • Major life transitions, including career changes, retirement, or divorce

    • The question: "Who am I now, and what do I want for this next chapter?"

  • How I help

My approach is collaborative, growth-oriented, and solution-focused. Together, we'll create space to process grief and uncertainty while also identifying practical steps toward the life you want to build. This may include:

    • Exploring identity beyond parenting roles

    • Developing healthier boundaries with adult children

    • Learning tools to manage anxiety and overthinking

    • Processing feelings of grief, disappointment, or rejection

    • Clarifying personal values, goals, and purpose for this next chapter

Let’s work together to embrace what comes next.

  • Types of therapy

My work integrates evidence-based approaches, including:

    • Solution-Focused Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Strengths-Based Therapy

    • Mindfulness Practices

Each treatment plan is tailored to your unique experiences, goals, and needs.

Understanding Your Out-of-Network Benefits

This practice operates on a private-pay model and does not bill insurance companies directly. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, a large portion of your session fees may still be covered. I partner with Thrizer to completely handle the insurance paperwork, saving you from dealing with monthly "superbills" (itemized insurance receipts) and making your reimbursement process seamless.

Check Your Benefits

Because every plan is different, I always recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to verify your specific out-of-network mental health coverage.

Here are the some questions to ask your provider:

  • Does my policy include out-of-network mental health benefits for telehealth?

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible to meet before reimbursement kicks in?

  • What percentage of the session fee does my plan cover once that deductible is met?

  • Is there a limit on how many therapy sessions are allowed per calendar year?

  • Does my plan require a referral or written approval from my primary care doctor?

Most PPO plans reimburse 60–80% of out-of-network therapy costs once your deductible is met.

  • You can use the free tool on my site to instantly check your plan's coverage.

  • No long phone calls with insurance representatives are required when you use Thrizer.

  • I am also happy to help verify your benefits before your first call.

Use HSA or FSA Cards

You can seamlessly use your pre-tax healthcare dollars to cover your upfront session costs.

  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are accepted.

  • Using these accounts reduces your upfront out-of-pocket expenses.

  • All payments are securely processed.

You’ve spent decades taking care of everyone else. This chapter is for YOU!
